27.06.2025

A closed, pre-premiere screening of the highly anticipated sports drama “F1” was held at the premium CineMastercard cinema, located in Deniz Mall, with the support of “Baku City Circuit” Operating Company, the official promoter of Formula 1 in Azerbaijan.

The film was directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for his works “Top Gun: Maverick” and “The Case of the Brave”. The screening characters were Hollywood stars Brad Pitt, Damson Idris and Javier Bardem. Several current Formula 1 drivers also appear in the movie. Notably, one of the film’s producers is seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton.

Filming began in 2023 and took place on real F1 circuits. Specially designed race cars were developed for the film, equipped with fifteen camera mounts, internal recording systems, batteries, and transmissions. The fictional APXGP team had a dedicated garage and pit wall set up, and their cars were positioned at the back of the actual starting grid before races. The actors themselves spent three months in intensive preparation before stepping into the cars for filming.

The story centers on the fictional APXGP team. Veteran driver Sonny Hayes, portrayed by Brad Pitt, returns to Formula 1 after a long hiatus following a serious accident. He joins the team as both co-driver and mentor to rising star Joshua Pierce, played by Damson Idris.

The exclusive screening was attended by prominent public figures, celebrities, entrepreneurs, media representatives, bloggers, and esteemed guests of “Baku City Circuit”.

The evening ended with a collective viewing of the film “F1”.

The film will be available to the public at CineMastercard cinemas in three languages—English, Russian, and Turkish. Additionally, viewers will be able to experience “F1” in latest formats, including 4DX and ScreenX.
