Be in summer mood: cinema weekend with the Russian Film Festival

From 17 to 19 June in Baku, CinemaPlus Azerbaijan will host free screenings of Russian films as part of the Russian Film Festival. A bright summer weekend in the company of the heroes of the hooligan comedy "No looking back", the sensitive melodrama "Breathe freely" and the adventure family cartoon "Plush Boom" will be presented for the residents and guests of the capital of Azerbaijan. Films will be shown in Russian with Azerbaijani subtitles.

The Russian Film Festival debuted in Azerbaijan in 2021 - the festival was held online; Now Azerbaijani viewers will be able to get acquainted with the novelties of Russian cinema on the big screen.

- No looking back (dir. Kirill Sokolov, 2021) is a comedy action movie where Anna Mikhalkova is the starring character. According to the plot, the heroine Olya, who is released from prison after four years of imprisonment, intends to start a new life. To do this, she needs to take her ten-year-old daughter from a despotic grandmother. But you can’t leave your loving relatives - the grandmother goes on a dashing pursuit of her granddaughter and her unlucky daughter…..

This is a fascinating chase film from Kirill Sokolov, whom film critics are calling "Russian Tarantino" not only in Russia, but also abroad. He is the author of the grotesque black comedy "Dad, Die", which participated in forty festivals and competitions, and was sold in more than 30 countries. The film “No looking back” has also already been featured at international festivals: it won two awards - Best Director and Best Newcomer Actress - at the Fantaspoa International Film Festival, which took place from April 14 to May 1, 2022 in Brazil. The film also was included into the program of the American festival South by Southwest (SXSW) 2022.

- “Breathe Easy” (dir. Sergei Bodrov Senior., 2021) is a romantic melodrama that highlights the problem of people with speech disabilities. The main character of the film, Ilya, stutters a lot, and it interferes with everything - personal life, communication with the child, work. In desperation, with desperation he makes appointment with a famous doctor - a guru in his field, whom patients consider a magician and wizard. There he meets new friends and new love, but the story turns into a complicated love triangle... The director of the film, Sergei Bodrov Senior., is the winner of many film awards and festival prizes. His directorial works "Prisoner of the Caucasus" (1996) and "Mongol" (2007), as well as the film where he acted as a screenwriter, "East-West" (1999) had been nominated for an Oscar.

- "Teddy Boom" (dir. Denis Chernov, Ilya Kupriyanov, 2021) - a family animated film about the magic of friendship from the creators of the world-famous "Smeshariki". The story of a top notch thief who steals a unique ruby and hides it inside a teddy bear named Boom to smuggle the gemstone out of the country. But things don't go according to plan...

The Russian Film Festival is organized in Azerbaijan by ROSKINO with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
