Luntik enjoys life with his mother on the Moon and regularly flies to visit his friends on Earth. One day, Luntik begins to wonder where his father is. His mother tells him that Luntik’s father disappeared on the far side of the Moon, but that he will definitely return someday. Luntik does not want to wait and sets off to find his father together with his friend, the grasshopper Kuzya.

The mischievous caterpillars Vupsen and Pupsen follow them, bringing chaos to every plan. The friends end up on the far side of the Moon, where incredible and dangerous adventures await them.
